No one has been out in me for ages. They were kind enough to buy me a liberty bodice for my roof for the winter but the wind made it too difficult for it to stay on. I'm in a nice sheltered spot though so it's not too bad. I used to spend my winters with friends and we used to compare notes of previous outings but I'm pretty much on my own now. There are three hens who come and have a natter with me sometimes but they don't stay around for long. I sometimes see the couple whose house I'm staying by - it was interesting watching them saw up a tree that had fallen across the lane - they worked very hard with only a little cursing going on.
I don't know who is next on the rota but as the days are getting longer I'm hopeful about going out soon. Liz drove all the way to North Berwick and onto a site called Tantallon Park, which my friends Sue and Julie know about. It’s a great site with views out to sea including the Bass Rock, but dog, was it windy – it blew a gale for three days.

Anyway, it was nice and snug in the tin box and the wind gently rocked it and me off to sleep at night. One day everything got packed up and I thought oooh, we’re going home. But no, we drove a hen run length to a place called Tesco and then into the town. We walked along the streets (lots of interesting smells) to the Seabird Centre, but dogs are not allowed in. Why not, we canines are not nearly as smelly as people! Anyway, we had another night on the site and then we did come home. Aaaaah………

A week or two ago Sue came over to my house and took me to hers, which I really enjoy because I get spoilt rotten by Sue and Julie (but don’t tell them that). I thought oh ay, that will be Rick and Liz off to a place they call abroad. But no, I heard later that Rick had gone into a hospital (the BGH?) to have his plumbing readjusted, and was there for a few days. So Liz and Realliewheelie, a daughter who lives in Birmingham, took Buttercup (that’s the name the silly humans call the tin box) to a site right in Melrose town, which made visiting Rick in another tin box so much easier. They could only stay there one night so moved to another place called Springfield which was about 2 miles from Melrose, so still easy to visit the Rick.

Anyway we are all home now and Rick is getting better by the day – no wonder - he is waited on hand and foot by Liz! I overheard Rick say that he is keeping a pained face on so that the attention will last longer – chancer!

Corrie

Corrie and Buttercup

I never know what is going to happen next! For example, last week Liz put my harness on and I thought ‘ooooh goodie, walkies’ But no, I was marched out the house and into this big white box thing which Liz and Rickie kept calling Buttercup. What!?! It looked nothing like a flower to me.

Anyway, the engine started up and we were all off down the road and I’m thinking well, I can’t be off to the vet or those nice Sue and Julie (who spoil me rotten, but don’t tell R&E) in a ruddy great pantechnicon like this, even if it is called a buttercup.

After about three days we arrived at this place called Dunning in Perthshire, whatever that is. But it was attractive even if there were lots more of these white boxes spread around the field. R&E said this is great because there are toilets and showers and fresh water and electricity. For crying out loud they have all that at home, why do we have to drive half way across a continent for that!

But there was a nice big field that I could run around in off the lead, and R&E would throw things for me to chase, great fun! But they can be odd on occasions – every time I did a poop they would put it into a little plastic bag and dump it in a box. What was that all about! Not a nice pressie for the fairies or santa claus or whatever empties the boxes I thought.

Another bonus was spending the night in the same room as R&E - that doesn’t happen at home. So I was good and quiet all through the dark time until R&E got up when they switched on the daylight again. Anyway, after about a year we drove back down the road to home – and toilets and shower and fresh water and electricity! People are funny creatures sometimes.

Corrie

woof woof!!

Well m’dears wait till you hear about the week I’ve had. Such times!
Sorry, I am rushing away with myself in all the excitement.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Buttercup and I am a Peugot Boxer Autosleeper…..Executive….. motorhome. I admit that I am a bit long in the tooth,
13 years old to be precise but there is still life in the old girl yet and I am raring to go.
Last week I weas sitting in the forecourt of Mills Garages in Duns with a price on my head. The embarrassment was awful, especially as I had this knock down price stuck on my windscreen while all the other sprightly young things were boasting about just how much they were worth.
Anyway, there I was feeling a bit down but trying to look my best when this trickle of people started to come and look me over. I couldn’t get a sense of them at first because they came in dribs and drabs and one lot came when the garage was closed and peered in my windows.
I wasn’t at all sure what to make of it all but to cut a long story short…..well quite a short story really….. I’ve got new owners !!! Like me they have got a good few miles on the clock… less Famous Five and more Saga Six…but again like me they are ready for new adventures on the road.
I have met them all now and they seem like good sorts. Whats more important, they really seem to like me. I have had nothing but compliments all week and one of them even said that just seeing me on her drive gave her a warm fuzzy feeling !!
And the plans !!!! Just when I thought my travelling days were numbered there is talk of the Scottish Highlands, being a sherpa to two women walking Offa’s Dyke and even mention of Italy and following the Tour de France.
I can't believe my luck. Just as I thought I was being written off as too old for fun, here we all go again.
I hear that they intend to write about their travels in a blog.
Its called Buttercup’s Blog so, without wanting to be pushy, I thought I would write the first entry.
Linda and Paul, Julie and Sue and Liz and Ricky will all be writing their own entries onto my blog ….BUT IT IS MY BLOG…. Better sign off now in case I am starting to sound like the computer in 2001 Space Odyssey but what a week I’ve had, m’dears, what a week.
Buttercup Boxer (Miss)
